Before: Small, narrow brick step barely big enough to stand on.
The original back exit had only a small, narrow brick step that was barely big enough to stand on. The owners wanted to replace this awkward ledge with a wider, safer landing to make entering and exiting the garden easier.
We needed to cover the old, weathered brickwork completely and address the uneven concrete path below. The goal was to build a stable, level structure that expanded the usable foot space without requiring messy demolition.
We constructed a custom two-tier timber landing directly over the existing step. We significantly increased the width and depth to create a generous platform, using durable decking boards to give the area a clean, modern finish.
The cramped back entry has been transformed into a functional and inviting space. The new timber steps provide a solid, safe footing and add a touch of warmth that completely hides the old concrete and brick.
