Pergola, Decking, Weather Protection

Before: Weathered timber landing with peeling paint and dated striped awning.
The side door area had become an eyesore. The existing timber landing was weathering badly with peeling paint, and a retro striped awning was the only defense against the elements. The space looked cluttered, dark, and neglected.
Construction: Installing new landing, pergola roof with polycarbonate sheeting, and protective panels.
We needed to tear out the rot and build a structure that offered better weather protection for the door and utilities (like the AC unit) without making the narrow space feel dark or enclosed.
We rebuilt the landing with fresh treated pine and installed a proper pergola roof with clear polycarbonate sheeting to let the sun in but keep the rain out. We added a modern pull-down blind for flexible privacy and sun control, and used durable corrugated sheeting to neatly shield the side utilities.
The space is now tidy, bright, and protected. What was once a rotting utility area is now a functional, low-maintenance entrance that looks as good as the rest of the house.
After: A clean, modern side entrance with weather protection and natural light.
